Far
A two-part solo exhibition, Far featured a gallery installation of seven mobiles, each suspending three mirrored cubes ranging from 12″ to 18″ square, and a terrace installation called Far (Catalan for lighthouse or beacon), a wind-powered sculptural work, at Arts Santa Monica, a Catalan museum on the Ramblas in Barcelona.
Since the exhibition at the museum, the mobiles have been installed at the University of Barcelona (Universitat de Barcelona), one of Spain’s oldest and most revered institutions of higher learning. They are featured throughout the university’s Biblioteca de Filosfia, Geografia e Historia, in the Raval neighborhood near Plaza Catalunya at Calle Montalegre, 8. 08001 Barcelona.
The “Lighthouse” sculpture was installed on the Arts Santa Monica terrace overlooking the Ramblas, and is slated to be relocated in the coastal town of Cadaques in northern Catalunya next to the Mediterranean sea. Though Cadaques is small, it is a renowned art mecca best known as the summer home of Salvador and Gala Dalí and often visited by Picasso, Duchamp, Richard Hamilton, and Melina Mercouri.
This video of Lighthouse at the Arts Santa Monica, features the music of Ford Rogers, who composed a new work “Far Cry” in conjunction with the installation.
